There is so much to share, the design team is going to be challenged to show it all. But then again, that’s why it’s called a peek, right?! Well, warm up the cocoa and get cozy, because today we’re sharing a little Nordic Winter.
Let me start by saying that I literally had to make myself put this set down so I’d have other projects to share this week! Nordic Winter is fast becoming a favorite. And I loved creating some Christmas projects with my favorite color combination. May I present...the Kraft, Red and Cream collection...
Love it! I had a little Santa workshop right in my craft room! This set is full of terrific textures and patterns. And you know how much we love the large background building sets. Well, this one is no different! Let's take a closer look, shall we? I just couldn't resist making some little mittens:
I used last year's Nested Mittens dies from Spellbinders to create two little mittens. I stamped them with one of the background stamps from Nordic Winter to make a fun winter sweater pattern. Then, stamping some extra mittens, I created the cuff using another, smaller patterned stamp. I cut just the cuff part out and adhered it to the mitten with foam tape to make a more realistic cuff. But before I assembled them, I ran all the pieces through my Cuttlebug using a Sizzix textured embossing folder. It created a great textured look that resembles knit:
I love the look of white ink on Kraft cardstock, but I really love it paired with white embossed stamping! Can you see the difference? It really makes your sentiment stand out, too. The snow flurries were created with Flourishes - Scallops and Dots and the sentiment is from Compliments of the Season:
Now, for the next card. I had to make some little stockings. You saw that coming, right?
Ack! Can you stand it?! This set contains several different single images along with the border stamps, as well as sentiments. I took advantage of that and created three different little stockings to "hang" on some red and white twine. The background was created using Text-It and more flourishes, of course! I love how swirly and wintry they look:
Now, one thing that I'm trying to do as I create my Christmas cards and projects is to also create tags. This is a great way to use up scraps or pieces that just don't work on your cards. In this case, it was really just an excuse to create a bigger mitten!
I used the same technique as on the card, but I combined a few of the knitted patterns. This set is so much fun to use! I used another sentiment from Compliments of the Season to complete the tag.
Whew! Thanks for hanging in with me for all of those photos...lol! I love setting up my little photo tent with holiday goodness. I guess that's why I have so many extra photos this time around!
