WMSC #56

It's Saturday and you know what that means!  It's time for a new Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!  And this time around we have a new sketch by our very own Julia Aston!  Here's my take on the sketch:

Now I did take some liberties with this one, opting to use ribbon as a layer.  I tried it both ways and there was just something about this black ribbon that struck me as the right way to go.  I love the color combinations and I'm trying to branch out a little in that area.

For my card base, I randomly stamped it with the small rose image from Roses in Bloom.  I added some flourishes using Flourishes - Scallops and Dots (I can't put down this set!).  For the focal image, I cut out two Label Eighteen shapes.  I stamped one randomly with the rose image and then stamped my sentiment from Big Day Additions.  And raise your hand if you've never heard of the word "felicitations?"  I had to look it up when we first got this set!  I guess it's not used as often in the States.  Or maybe I'm just living under a rock! Anyhoo...

For the second Label Eighteen shape I cut out an oval from the center, stamped it with the polka dot frame from Very Vintage Labels No. 18 and layered it on using foam dimensionals.  One note here.  I decided at the last minute to color in the dots with a black Copic marker.  I thought it would tie in nicely with the ribbon.  It's hard to get perfect round dots with a marker, but if you keep it straight up and down in your hand and only hold it on the cardstock for a split second, you'll have better results.  It's not perfect, but it will do!

And, just for the heck of it, I spritzed a little Glimmer Mist on the whole thing (a "new to me" product that I'm experimenting with).  And there you go!  Another sketch challenge well underway on this fine weekend!  I hope you'll consider playing along.    And don't forget tomorrow's Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps blog waltz!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
