March WMS Release Day Blog Waltz

Happy release day! I want to thank you all for your sweet, kind comments on my projects. It is always so appreciated! New stamps are just so much fun, aren’t they? Today the design team is celebrating the release of five new WMS sets with a little blog waltz. If you came from Mona's blog then you're right on track. If not, make sure you start with Claire's blog so you don't miss a thing!

For today's project I'm sharing something that I had in my head the moment I first saw the Way Out West and Back in the Saddle sets. I wanted to share it on the first day of sneak peeks, but I just hadn't gotten it together yet. And scrapbooking is still a little intimidating to me...

I knew I had a few adorable photos in my collection that would make a great scrapbook page using the new Western sets. My daughter was just two years old in this photo and this was her Halloween costume that year. This is a black and white photo, but in real life her bandanna and cowboy boots were hot pink! I thought I'd tone it down for this page...lol!

The page itself was created using my largest Grand Labels One die and my Grand Calibur from Spellbinders. I love making these shaped pages for scrapbooking! I stamped the page using the star and word background from Way Out West. I inked the edges and added some texture using a textured wheel tool used with clay. It creates a stitched look without sewing (I'm too lazy to haul out my machine!). I think the page almost looks like leather!

For the title, I stamped what is now my favorite sentiment from Back in the Saddle and added the faux wood grain from Way Out West. The brads were added to make it look like a real wood sign, ala Carly's wanted poster (brilliant, Carly!).

To finish it off, I added a little banner stamped in the same monochromatic colors and inked them up a bit. I like how it fills in the page without make it look too crowded. Plus it's just so fun!

Before I leave today, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our WMS design team coordinator, Lisa Hjulberg. As most of you have read by now, Lisa has moved on from WMS. Although we are happy and excited for Lisa and what's in her near future, we will also miss her greatly. Thanks, Lisa, for your hard great work and exceptional skills to keep our little design team runnin'. You'll be missed!

And thank you for stopping by today! Don't forget to leave your comments by 8:59 p.m. PST on March 2 for your chance to win a WMS stamp set! Now off you go to waltz on over to Laurie's blog for some terrific eye candy!
