In case you haven't heard, the Waltzingmouse Stamps design team is throwing a party to celebrate the new arrival of our Grand Calibur die cutting machines, courtesy of Spellbinders! I just have to take a moment to thank Spellbinders for this generous and exciting gift! What a great surprise to the entire team. Thank you so much, Spellbinders!
And now, may I present...the Grand Calibur...
Ooh and aah! Isn't it beautiful? After learning of my new gift, I set out to order some of the new Grand Nestabilities dies and I decided on the Grand Labels One. I
am addicted to love all of my Spellbinders dies, but the Labels One has always held a special place in my heart. And, speaking of heart, here's my first project using my Grand Calibur, a special gift for my husband for Valentine's Day:
This is actually a CD holder. Inside is a music CD I made for my husband with a few special lovey dovey songs for Valentine's Day. So the sentiment is really a play on words (key...music...get it?). Here's what it looks like inside:
Now, here's a closer look at how I made this CD holder. First step was to determine which die to use. To do that, I simply laid my CD down and found the right one to accommodate the size, with enough room around the edges for adhesive (or stitching, if you prefer):
I then cut out the front and back cover for the holder. Now here's what I love about the Grand Calibur. Because I knew I'd be making a card using the same cardstock, I went ahead and cut my Long Scalloped Rectangle along with my large Labels One. They both fit on the cutting plate!
After cutting my front and back cover, I needed a half of the same Labels One to make the inside pocket of the holder, to hold the CD. I did that by simply placing my scrap cardstock halfway over the die. I then added adhesive strip along the edges and adhered it to the back cover:
All that was left to do was to finish embellishing the front cover. And it's all about the layers! I used my regular Labels One die and Standard Circles die. I added background stamping with my Musical Backgrounds set. I then stamped the large solid heart from Sweethearts for the focal image. I added the musical note to the center, which I thought was perfect with the sentiment, also from Sweethearts. Here's another look at the holder:
So, while I was at it, I decided to make a card using my Grand Labels One die. This time I simply cut one shape out, folded it in half, and made a card! I used the same color scheme, but this time it's a bit more girly for, well, my little girl:
I love the unique shape of this card! This time I used Pic-Nic Patterns to create background stamping on the card base and for the flowers. I added the hearts and sentiment from Sweethearts. Have I told you how much I love gray and pink together lately? Don't be surprised if you see more of it here, along with my Grand Calibur! I think I've only scratched the surface of what this machine and the new Grand Nestabilities dies can do! Bigger is better, right?! Now make sure you check out what some of the other design team members are sharing today...and enjoy the party!
