Help For Katie

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend...and now it's back to the usual Monday routine. Expect today is a special Monday. Many of you in blogland have heard or even know of Katie Renz and her recent cancer diagnosis. I "met" Katie online a few years ago via stamp forums and blogs and all the things that come with this wonderful hobby. Since learning of her diagnosis, many fellow stampers have taken action to do what they can to show support and encouragement to Katie. One of these folks is the wonderful Jak Heath, who today is releasing a digital stamp collection with proceeds from the sale going to Katie and her family. The collection is a compilation from several talented designers including Claire Brennan, owner of Waltzingmouse Stamps.

If you love the Half Pint Heroes set, then you'll love what Claire has contributed to this digital collection! Today I'm using the little prince image and sentiment. And how lucky for me that I found a digital download for my Silhouette that was perfect for this card! I simply printed the digital image twice - once on white cardstock and once on gray - and cut it out. I used Copic markers to color the little prince and add some shading, then adhered the window with foam mounting tape for dimension. The castle card itself got a lot of inking to add much needed texture. The banner was simply printed on white cardstock, trimmed, then adhered to a plain toothpick!

I want to say thank you to Jak for organizing this special project, and to all of the designers for their contributions. Crafters are some truly special folks! Make sure you stop by and take a look at this special collection. It really is packed with a variety of designs, sure to please everyone! And, remember, the proceeds go to Katie and her family. If you have some time today, please also consider stopping by Katie's blog and leaving her a word or two of encouragement. I know each comment she receives means so much. And, even if you don't know Katie, you'll find her posts incredibly honest and heartfelt and, within them, a lesson for all of us. Thank you for stopping by today!

This is awesome!! Katie has inspired me with every post she has written about her journey, and I was so glad to see there is a way I can do my small part. Sometimes the internet truly is an amazing place - that we all met because of a little hobby, and we can all band together like this when one of us is down - it's amazing!!
