Normally at this time, the Waltzingmouse Stamps design team would be previewing new stamp sets for release. However, there will be no release this month in order to allow Claire time to focus on a few "behind the scenes" plans that will take us to the next level in the new year. It's all very exciting, so we ask that you bear with us! It will be worth it!
The WMS design team is coming together to bring you some ideas and inspiration for holiday crafting (and beyond) which we are calling 12 Days of Christmas Waltzingmouse Style! Each day will showcase a different design team member, so be sure to check back daily through December 17th for the links... and enjoy! Today, on the 8th day of Christmas, I'm showing you a cute, inexpensive stocking stuffer with a special treat inside!

This little mitten is very easy to make, and would be perfect to hold a variety of different surprises. It all starts with the large mitten die from the S4-285 Nested Mittens die set from Spellbinders. I cut two mittens from red felt:
I like to use 100% wool felt, available at my local fabric store. It cuts much more cleanly when using the dies and it's also thicker than the less expensive crafting felt. After cutting the mittens, I decided now was the time to add my embellishments, as sewing on this button would be very difficult after the mitten was sewed together. I die cut a snowflake and added a green button to the center:
I then started stitching the two mitten layers together using a blanket stitch. This stitch is a super easy one and makes a cute finish for the mitten. You can watch this video to learn, if you've never done this before.
Once the stitching was completed, I cut a scrap of green felt to make a decorative top or cuff to my mitten. I first cut the scrap using the same mitten die, to get the rounded shape, then I cut the edge using a scalloped border die:
All that was left was to add some ribbon and a little tag, using a sentiment from Around Christmastime:
But wait! What's in this little mitten, you ask? A little sparkly treat for a special girlie girl I know:
I jazzed up this little tube of sparkly purple lip gloss by removing the label, cleaning off the adhesive, then stamping another sentiment from Around Christmastime using black StazOn ink. It was incredibly easy to do, even with the odd shape. Since the lip gloss is a little squishy, I was able to really press into the tube to get a good impression and easily stamped my sentiment right on it!

Just a fun way to personalize an little inexpensive gift! The lip gloss was $1.00 for three tubes - you can't beat that deal! And when presented in a cute little mitten, how could it be cuter?
I hope you are enjoying the 12 Days of Christmas Waltzingmouse Style! Make sure to check out the 9th day of Christmas with Sandie tomorrow to see what terrific things she has planned for us! If you've missed any days, just click on the snowflake in the upper left hand corner of my blog to see the review. They are all too good to be missed!
