November WMS Sneak Peek - Day One

Hello and welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for the November Waltzingmouse Stamps release! The holidays are in full swing around here as I kick off a few projects featuring one of the four terrific new sets releasing November 7 called Around Christmastime.

Sometimes, like recently, when I'm struggling with my mojo, I will make a smaller project to get myself back into the groove. Something like a tag or other embellishment. Well...this set just so happens to be perfect for that!

My first tag uses the traditional colors of Christmas. I cut this tag from a digital image using my Silhouette digital cutter. I stamped some "distressed" (aka dry ink pad) polka dots on the bottom of the tag using Off Beat Backgrounds. The top portion was stamped using the wreath and berry stamps included in Around Christmastime, as well as the "to" and "from." And I LOVE the holly image! I added some clear rhinestones for the berries; I colored them with a Copic marker since I didn't have any red ones on hand:

Now, since my mojo was starting to warm up, I made another tag using a less traditional (but one of my favorite) color combinations:

This time I simply cut some cardstock to size for my tag. I rounded the corners and embossed my sentiment to really make it stand out. I love the reds and pinks on this. And because I love the holly image so much, I used it again, with the rhinestones:

Well, by this time my mojo is in full swing and I'm ready to move onto something bigger and better! I decided to make a card, but with a twist. How about a gift card holder and card in one? Where's the gift card you ask?

Why it's tucked inside the pocket on the front, of course! I used my Silhouette to make the pocket and card. I then used the snowflake image form the Around Christmastime set to make a "pull" for the card. Once again, my trusty Silhouette download card makes a good stand it for a gift card:

I have to point out the color on this snowflake. It was an accident, but I love it! I wanted the red to be a little deeper, almost "dirty," so I added some Frayed Burlap distress ink using the rock and roll method. The result is a distressed, aged finished that almost looks sanded:

And one more detail, since it's hard to see. Both the bottom of the card and the inside card were stamped with one of my favorite fonts from the Text It set. It's subtle, but worth the effort:

Wow, I better get back to stamping while my mojo is fired up! Quick, before laundry and dishes snuff it out...lol!

Beautiful tags, Jennifer. I love making tags at Christmas...they are quick, and somehow easier for me to create than cards. (go figure) These you have made are just outstanding.
