Waltzingmouse Stamps October Sneak Peek Day 1

Hello and welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for the October Waltzingmouse Stamps release! And this month is extra special because we welcome two new talented members to the WMS design team: Joan Bardee and Sandie Dunne! It's great to have these two wonderful ladies join us and I can't wait to see what they've come up with for today's peeks!

Today I'm sharing some vintage Christmas goodness using two of the five new sets releasing October 7th: Text It and Compliments of the Season.

During the busy rush of the holiday season, I try to maximize my crafting time by making more than one item with the same supplies. When I saw the great sentiments in Compliments of the Season, I had several ideas in mind, starting with a photo card using one of my favorite holiday photos of my daughter:

This photo was printed in sepia tone, giving it a vintage look and feel. I just love the expression on my daughter's face! Next I created a library pocket to hold my photo using my Silhouette. I sized it to be just slightly larger than my photo and cut it down a bit so that the faces in the photo would show. I then stamped the front of the pocket using one of the text background stamps from Text It. Can I tell you how much I love Waltzingmouse Stamps background stamps? I love that they are large enough to cover the front of a card without having to match it up at the ends, which can be very difficult. This set is no different! I love the variety of fonts included, especially the one I used on this project. It reminds me of a letter to Santa, or a page from a favorite Christmas story. Sigh. Okay, to make my sentiment, I used the Labels 13 die from Spellbinders, but cut the top and bottom to leave the curved sides. I didn't want to cover up too much of this great text background!

A lot of distress ink all the way around to age this and make it oh so vintage. This is what the card looks like when the photo is pulled out:

See Teddy? He's still her true blue friend, although he's getting a little worse for wear. Sigh. Okay, while everything was still out and on my work surface, I created a large tag and mini gift card. Again, the tag was made using my Silhouette. I simply stamped the same text for the background and added another great sentiment from Compliments of the Season. Don't you just love that font? The gift card is a simple 3 x 3 inch card; a perfect size to use up some of those scraps!

And one more look at the tag. This snowflake was also created with my Silhouette. I cut multiple shapes at a time when I use this tool. It's great to have extras on hand so you don't have to keep coming back to cut another needed shape.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope I've inspired you to get started on your Christmas cards a bit early...lol! Just kidding! I only wish I could be that organized at this point!

So perfect Jennifer! The sepia tones are fabulous! My granddaughter has a little "bunny-o" that is the stinkiest , dirtiest thing going and when her mother washes it, little Robin stands in front on the washing machine crying for "bunny-o"... so precious believe it or not!

ooo, the sepia photo is genius. love love the photo holder, and the lil tags / gift card (from scraps -> how practical). but yes - i truly love wms bg stamps for the same reason - nice and big - especially for people who have a tough time lining up. i only have to line up along one edge. whohoo.
