WMS August Sneak Peek Day 3

Today's the last day of Waltzingmouse Stamps sneak peeks and then new stamps can be yours tomorrow! Are you having fun? The Claire and the WMS design team have shown us some amazing projects! Each year for Halloween I like to create something that I can give to my nieces and nephews that is not edible, since they get so much candy. This year I've decided to make some shaped notebooks and something special to go along with it:

This little witch's cauldron notebook all started with a shape I downloaded for my Silhouette online at the QuicKutz store. I made it large enough to accommodate my label, as well as to fit in my Bind-it-All. It's about 4.5 inches wide at it's widest point. I used dark gray cardstock for the cover so the black sponged ink around the edges would show up well. I then stamped some flourishes from the Rescue Remedies Additions set. Then I splattered the whole thing with some black, white and gray acrylic paint that I watered down slightly. I love the texture it created:

My label is from Wanda's Pantry, available tomorrow, July 27. I cut it out closely by hand, then added some green color with a Copic Marker. I then added some epoxy stickers around the top of the cauldron, to make it look like my witch's brew was bubbling out. Then, to finish it off, I added a some ribbon that I dyed with a Copic (like I did here), along with a little bat and a tag I made using Rescue Remedies Additions. Do you know what I discovered? That set is a perfect compliment to the two new sets...many of the stamps are food related and would be another fun addition for Halloween treats!

Now you need something to stir your brew, right? How about a bone? A bone pen, that is! You know how I like to create with Crayola Model Magic? Well, I used some of the stuff to cover a pen, shaping it into a bone, adding lines, cracks, etc. Once it dried, I simply inked it a bit to give it some dirt and age. Eewww!

I'm telling you, with school supplies as cheap as they are right now, you can snag yourself some Model Magic, pens and go to town! I bought twelve pens for 99 cents at Target yesterday! You'll have inexpensive gifts for Halloween in no time! One down, eleven to go!

So make sure you check out the design team to see what they are sharing today. I'm sure they have some terrific eye candy!

Tomorrow is the big release day and the design team will have their usual release day blog waltz. Make sure you join us...right after you shop for new stamps!

Aaackkkk Jennifer!! I LOVE your cauldron book! some many wonderful details - the stamping on it - the splattering - Love it!! and your bone cracks me up! I bought some of this stuff from Japan (then found out Crayola has it) but it's all still in the package! Now I have a great reason to get it out! These pens will be wonderful to sell at my church fair in Oct!!

Jennifer, this is so awesome! I might try to do this for the kids in my son's class this year for their Halloween party. I am so tired of him getting candy at school AND Trick-or-Treating, too!!!

Winner Winner! Chicken Dinner!
Oh my goodness! If there was a prize for the best use of Claire's stamps I would give you the blue ribbon. This is fantastic! The bone pen is awesome. Coupled with the cauldron notepad? You're killing me!
I have to run some errands this afternoon... I thin I'll be adding modeling clay to my list of things to pick up.
THANK YOU for sharing. Your nieces and nephews should L-O-V-E love this. (if not, you can send them to me *wink*)
