My Little Graduate

Today Olivia graduated Kindergarten. It was...the.cutest.thing.ever. We sat in the gym and waited as the kids entered and lined up for their big moment. They each wore paper hats with yarn tassels and buttoned down white shirts turned backwards for "gowns." It was adorable. Then, one by one, as their names were called, they walked on stage and received their certificate from their teacher. Olivia beamed as she looked into the audience and saw her support section (all eight of us!).

I don't think Olivia really gets that this was the last day of school. We've talked a lot about First Grade, and so far the big draw is that she won't have to take a nap during the day...lol! She's also excited about taking her lunch each day (I'm sure that will get old for both of us!). It will all be an adjustment, but she'll love it, I know she will. And I know this is just the first of many milestones to come, but each one is just so special and makes me feel so proud to be her Mom. Kleenex, please...

And so, with summer vacation officially upon us, I thought I'd share a summer kind of card:

This is a simple card I made for Purple Onion Designs. I knew I had some summer related stickers in my stash, and this was a perfect card to use them on. The Summer Noteblock image takes center stage, but I added some background stamping and lots of little summer touches. The "water" I made using one of my scalloped border dies. I popped up a few of the pieces with foam dimensionals:

I'm not sure yet what plans lie ahead for summer, but I do know we're going to schedule in some serious family time. Camping plans and a trip to the ocean are already in the works...as soon as the weather cooperates long enough. Come on summer sun...!

Stamps: Summer Noteblock, Road Trippin' (POD)
Paper: Lemon Tart, Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores (PTI)
Ink: Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, Spring Rain (PTI)
Other: stickers (Jolee's), scalloped border die (PTI), foam dimensionals

Olivia is adorable! She looks a lot like her mommy! And I definitely know the feeling... I cry whenever any of my kids are on stage for any reason!

Just wait... one day Olivia will WANT to take a nap! LOL

So sweet! We have been on Summer Break for 2 weeks now. Ahhhhh. I'm finally not exhausted (I teach 1st grade). Tell Olivia that 1st grade is even better than kindergarten! It's the big time! Learning to read, doing math and science. So fun! Love this card! You are genius to use the outside part of your scallop for waves! Always inspiring!

How sweet Jennifer! Enjoy these moments - they pass SO quickly!! Olivia looks so impressed that she's 'graduating' - and so cute in the backwards shirt (what a clever idea!)

Love the layers on your beach card!
