A Little Appreciation

And a very happy weekend to all of you! My little family is spending a few days away in the beautiful Portland area, in honor of Mother's Day and Olivia's birthday. I just love this city! If I had to move and could stay on the West Coast, Portland would be my choice!

So this past week was Teacher Appreciation week at my daughter's elementary school. I wanted to give my daughter's teacher a little gift to let her know that we do sincerely appreciate her. Mrs. Loring is a tireless, patient and kind Kindergarten teacher. I am amazed daily at how much she is teaching these kids. And I also love that she doesn't hesitate to email me with updates on my daughter or if something comes up that she feels I should know about. So here is the little gift I came up with on the fly, at the last minute, and very late at night:

I used a hinged nugget tin that I had in my stash (for forever!) and made a little insert inside to hold some cute binder clips and butterfly shaped paperclips. I bought these a long time ago at a great price. I just love cute office supplies! And how great that they just happen to match with Papertrey Ink cardstock colors! Okay, so maybe that's why I bought them in the first place...Anyway, the insert was made by cutting a piece of cardstock to size, rounding the corners and folding it in the center to create a partition:

I decided I wanted to add a little notebook, so I simply covered a lined mini notepad with cardstock and a strip of scalloped cardstock. I love the extra pop of color that the butterflies add on both the notebook and tin. When it was all done, I wrapped it all in a cellophane bag and added a matching tag and some adorable ribbon. I couldn't resist adding the buttons to the center:

And I can tell you right now, that Papertrey Ink's Hawaiian Shores is fast becoming my favorite color! Isn't it great paired with Spring Moss?! I was so happy about how this turned out, that I vowed to make some more of these sets to have on hand for gifts. Sure beats the last minute rush and stamping late into the night!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! By the way, I really loved all of your comments about my happy ending dog story. Thank you! I'm still thinking about it...and it makes me smile every time!

Supplies will be added soon...these sleepy eyes need to close!

Happy Birthday to Olivia a little late, but heartfelt! Vickie was my Mothers day present 51 years ago and is as beautiful now as she was then. Thank you for the wonderful blog Jennifer, I am always surprised and amazed at your incredible talent! Have a wonderful May!
