Isn't Technology Great?

I can't believe it's Thursday already! Dang, my little blog has been sitting idle for several days now. I don't like to do that, I really don't. I blame American Idol. It's cutting into my blogging time. It's just so hard to resist; although a few of the contestants make me a little uncomfortable. I question their...uh...stability. Let's hope they get a proper referral shortly after they leave the show...lol!

Now, on to the bit about technology. As my post title asks, "Isn't technology great?" And by technology, I mean this:

Yes, I did it! I bought a Silhouette SD digital cutter! I've been considering buying a digital cutter for quite some time now. I've read reviews, checked out the comparisons and determined this one would be good fit for me. And when my husband told me he didn't know what to get me for my birthday, I made the decision for him! It's just what he would want me to have if he knew that I wanted it...and knew what the heck it was and how to get it!

So, without further ado, here's my first project using my brand spankin' new digital cutter:

This gable box was a download I purchased online. I used clear cardstock, cutting the image twice to insure it cut all the way through. I just copied and paste the image right on top of itself and the cutter did the rest! Before assembling the box, I stamped it using the hearts from my Sweethearts set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I used white StazOn ink and re-inked the pad before stamping to make sure I got a good solid white image. I assembled the box and added the candy hearts inside. Side note: Don't you remember these tasting better as a kid then they do now as an adult? Kinda like candy corn...? Anyway...I stamped the "I Just Love You" sentiment onto white satin ribbon and added a larger heart to finish it off. I stamped part of two different sentiments on the heart to mimic the look of the candy hearts inside the box.

Hey, if you have one of these cutters, I'd love to hear what you think about yours! Do you use it a lot? What are your favorite things to do with it? Any suggestions for future accessory purchases? I'm checking out the vinyl. I can think of a million different things to do with it!

One more thing: Make sure to pop onto Claire's blog soon; she's starting to share some sneak peeks of next month's releases! And trust me when I say you don't want to miss a thing!

Ooooh, you lucky lady! I've been lusting after a cutting machine for awhile now ;) I too would like to know what made you decide on the Silhouette. I LOVE your first project, and I got a really big chuckle from what you said about those candy hearts (and candy corn), tasting so much better when you were a kid, ITA! Give these old taste buds some chocolate any day of the week ;)

Great job. I just got your same new towy - wow, the number of new downloads avaiable every day astound me. Haven't done much yet but have made some pretty cute b-day decs (including cupcake holders). Intend to get some vinyl and cut my own expressions. And then just create some window cards by ungrouping and combining shapes. HAVE FUN - its pretty great - and check out the blog for additional instructions/ideas.
