Merriness

Isn’t that a unique word…Merriness? I think it sums up a lot of what I feel about the holidays and Christmas. And if I keep crankin' out the Christmas cards, I’ll be feeling a lot of merriness come December!

For this card I used one of the adorable tree stamps in the Merriness set from Purple Onion Designs. There are three different trees included in this set, each one a little different from the next. I added a little glitz to this one with my Stardust pen and red Stickles. My Nestabilities came in handy; I used them to create the two circle layers for my main image. I also embossed the red band with my Swiss Dots embossing folder (love it!) And…I tried out something different, something I haven't done in a long time. I used white paint for my snowflakes! I just lightly brushed it on with a foam brush and stamped. I also dry brushed a little white paint around the edges of my card, just to complete the snowy look. The sentiment was also stamped using the paint. And you know what? It’s hard to get a bright white with some inks, but if you use white paint, you’ll be very pleased every time! Just be sure to clean off your stamps right away, before the paint begins to dry.

I’m still working on my December Daily album, but it’s nearly there and I’ll have pictures posted by the weekend. Stay tuned! And I want to thank all of you who have contacted me recently with the sweetest comments (Heather, Sara, Ginger…hello!). I really appreciate your kindness. As I’ve said before, blogging is fun, but it’s a bit like talking to yourself! I have so much more fun when someone is talking back to me! So, please feel free to leave me a comment or ask your questions. Simply click on the “comments” link just below my name, at the end of the post. Thanks and enjoy your day!

Great card! Thanks for the tip on the white paint. I often find myself frustrated by white ink not showing up well, the paint is a really simple idea that works well ( I really should have thought of it!)

I'm so glad you talk to yourself on a regular basis---and you even show pictures! I gain much inspiration from hearing you talk!! I love that Christmas tree--I can hear the Charlie Brown crew singing, "Christmas time is here...." Thanks for that~
