Whew...I feel like I'm on a holiday roller coaster. First it was Christmas, then Halloween, then Christmas...you get my point. Well, I had to share this Halloween card that I made last year. I apologize for not being able to provide a lot of product specifics, but I can walk you through how I made it.I started with a black card base that I layered with a piece of patterned paper. And that's where the simplicity stops. The next few layers are a little more time consuming. I printed the Witch's Spell Shakespeare poem on a piece of transparency (acetate). I cut it out, inked the edges with black ink, then layered it on top of a second piece of patterned paper. I attached brads to each corner, inked the edges with black ink, and adhered the whole thing to the card. And now, for the fancy part!
The witch's hat was made from a scrap piece of black cardstock that I simply "free form" cut out with scissors. I started the first one by trying to draw a hat shape on the back of the cardstock, but soon realized that I liked it less than perfect and somewhat rough. So that's when I just started cutting. I inked the edges of the hat with white pigment ink and added a little strip of scrap pattered paper for the hat band. I added another scrap piece of gold metallic paper for the buckle. I used a craft pen knife for that, to cut out the center of the buckle. The hat was adhered to the card using foam tape. And there you have it! I love using words as a background to my cards and projects. If I duplicate this card again this year, I'll be sure to show step by step instructions (promise).
